Our latest collaborative research article, published in Chemical Communications is now published. The study presents a new approach for the magnetically triggered delivery of viral vectors using functionalized magnetic nanodiscs (MNDs).
By combining magnetic nanomaterials with a thermoresponsive polymer coating, the study demonstrates how magnetic stimulation can be used to remotely influence viral release. This proof-of-concept highlights the potential of smart magnetic materials for spatiotemporally controlled gene delivery and future precision biomedical applications.
The work brings together complementary expertise across our consortium in nanomaterials, polymer engineering, viral vectors, bioengineering and electromagnetic stimulation — reflecting the interdisciplinary approach at the heart of the EIC Pathfinder BRAINSTORM project.
